Carbon Black

Carbon black pigment is a finely divided form of carbon that is produced by the incomplete combustion or thermal decomposition of hydrocarbons. It consists primarily of elemental carbon in the form of microscopic particles, and it is black in color. The manufacturing process involves the controlled burning of fossil fuels, such as natural gas or petroleum, in the presence of limited oxygen.

We find the most common uses of Carbon Black pigment are the following applications:-

Carbon black is extensively used in the rubber industry to improve the strength, durability, and performance of rubber products. It is added to rubber compounds for applications such as tires, conveyor belts, seals, gaskets, and hoses.

Carbon black is a key component in the formulation of printing inks. It provides deep black color, opacity, and excellent lightfastness.

It is also used as a pigment in paints and coatings to provide black or dark shades. It offers excellent color stability, UV resistance, and opacity. Carbon black is used in architectural coatings, automotive coatings, industrial coatings, and specialty coatings.

Carbon black is also added to plastics to impart color, UV resistance, and conductivity. It is commonly used in the production of plastic films, pipes, cables, automotive parts, and electronic devices.

Other products and industries in which Carbon Black is used include plastics masterbatches, sealants, adhesives, electrodes, carbon brushes, shoe soles, and sports equipment.
