Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a white pigment that is widely used in various industries due to its excellent light-scattering and opacity properties. It is the most commonly used white pigment globally. However, anatase TiO2 has lower opacity and is less resistant to UV degradation.
Broadly 2 categories of titanium dioxides are – Rutile and Anatase. Rutile grades offer better resistance to UV degradation and provide better or higher opacity.
Applications for Titanium Di-Oxide
TiO2 is extensively used in architectural paints, industrial coatings, automotive coatings, and other types of coatings.
In plastics to impart whiteness, brightness, and opacity. Rutile TiO2 is used in various plastic applications, including films, pipes, automotive parts, and consumer goods.
TiO2 is used in the paper industry to improve the brightness and opacity of paper products.
